the quality of life and adoptability one walk at a
time! A walk is the happiest time of the day for a shelter dog
. . . be a part of that special time by becoming a dog
walker.
Cat Orientations ~ bring a ray of sunshine to a cat today!
If you are thinking about volunteering for the shelter and would like more

As a non-profit society we rely on volunteers to
help us with many activities - from working with the animals at the shelter to
selling raffle tickets in the mall - there are opportunities for almost
everyone. Volunteers are the backbone
of the SPCA and their contribution and dedication is greatly
appreciated.
For your convenience
you can print off and fill out an application prior to visiting the
shelter Volunteer Application Form
(.pdf format) or, visit the shelter to
discuss how you can help.

admittance room cat cages and laundry.

our shelter open house, mall displays, and other community events where the SPCA promotes animal welfare.
|
- Animal Socialization ~ Help the animals feel more comfortable at the
shelter by interacting with them through
play, grooming, and conversation. This is an important job to help socialize the animal and
therefore increase their chances of
becoming adopted.
|
- LOOKING
FOR A RIDE !
Our
shelter is in the fortunate position of being able to help overcrowded
shelters by transferring in some of their animals and finding them homes ~
the transfer program saves lives! We are looking for people that can
help with the transferring of animals here by meeting the Petcetra van that drives down
from Quesnel (usually meet the van at the West Van Branch) or driving
animals over from a lower mainland shelter. On occasion we transfer
animals to the Powell River Branch and visa versa so we are also looking
for people to drive up to Earls Cove.
All animals are in travel
carriers and ferry fares are covered ~ you do not have to commit to be
available for every transfer to be a part of this very important program.

Becoming a volunteer is
easy - all that's required is a few hours of your time. However, all volunteers are screened
appropriate to the position for which they apply.
Please note that volunteers under
16 years old
must be accompanied by an adult.
