Antifreeze Campaign Update

The BC SPCA recently received this update from MLA Scott Fraser:

Dear Friends:

I would like to thank you for your support in protecting animals from poisonous antifreeze. Since I introduced the Private Member's Bill, over 10,000 signatures have poured in from all over and they continue to arrive.

Unfortunately the legislature has finished sitting for the spring session and Environment Minister Barry Penner has not seen fit to support the bill. Needless to say, I am very disappointed.

I am hoping that over the next few months Minister Penner listens to your concerns and either brings something forward at the beginning of the fall session or agrees to support my bill. If he doesn't, I will bring my bill forward for a second reading debate. Either way, I am continuing to collect petitions over the summer.

Again, thank you for taking the time to collect signatures in support of the Promotion of Safe Antifreeze Act.

MLA Scott Fraser is an NDP member of the Legislative Assembly in the BC government from Alberni-Qualicum. Mr. Fraser is trying to get all government members of the Legislative Assembly to support his private members bill to ban poisonous antifreeze. Download the BC SPCA's petition to ban poisonous antifreeze. Get as many as you can to sign the petition. When you have collected all the signatures you can, mail it to:
